Argonne scientists have been investigating 3D-printed steels for use in next-generation nuclear reactors. In two studies, they used X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy to reveal how heat treatments can help 3D-printed steels endure nuclear service.

Luke Fetterman - Controls Engineering Supervisor, AFC-Holcroft

- Luke Fetterman has quickly become a standout leader at AFC-Holcroft, thanks to his control system expertise and his dedication to advancing both engineering and team development. Since joining the company, he has worked on numerous large-scale capital projects across a variety of equipment types, including batch, pusher, and belt furnaces.
- His technical skill and reliability earned him the title of Senior Engineer within just a few years. In January 2025, he was promoted to controls engineering supervisor, a testament to his mentorship, professionalism, and ability to guide cross-functional teams.

Shaun Goedecke - Production Manager, Paulo
|
- With over 15 years of experience in the heat treat industry, Shaun Goedecke has built a career defined by leadership, safety, and a deep commitment to both people and process. Starting in an entry-level position, he steadily advanced through multiple promotions to his current position as production manager for Paulo’s Commercial Division, earning the respect of peers, admiration of his team, and the 2021 Paulo company-wide “Example Award” along the way.
- Shaun’s leadership style is rooted in collaboration, care, and continuous improvement. As an active leader and organizer for the division’s safety committee, he has quadrupled meeting attendance and helped boost the plant’s safety audit score by more than 50%. His focus on morale and plant culture has also driven employee engagement survey scores to record highs.
