40 Under 40 Class of 2024 Highlights: Marco Antonio Delgado López and Ronnie Swinson
|
Heat Treat Today is privileged to oversee the 40 Under 40 recognition awards highlighting a group of rising young leaders in the North American heat treat industry every year. The Class of 2024 is a high-achieving, motivated, and heart-felt group of significant contributors to the heat treat market. Here are two highlights from this year’s class.

Marco Antonio Delgado López joined SISAMEX in 2015 as a researcher focusing on the distortion during the carburizing process. He has contributed significantly to the heat treating industry through his research and leadership skills, presenting “Effect of the Carburizing Route on Metallurgical Characteristics, Residual Stresses and Distortion on Transmission Shafts” for his PhD dissertation, as well as participating in heat treatment congresses as a speaker. Marco's research has led him to develop distortion studies in atmospheric carburizing processes and participate in the optimization of various carburizing heat treatments, especially during the quenching process. During his time at SISAMEX, he has held many roles, including innovation engineer, materials technology engineer, advanced manufacturing engineer, and finally heat treatment process specialist. In his current role, Marco has successfully participated in the development of various carburizing processes. He has launched heat treatment equipment such as Endothermic gas generators and carburizing and tempering furnaces, prioritizing the main function and seeking improvements that can achieve better results and a robust operation. Ronnie Swinson is a senior project engineer at Super Systems Inc., working with in-house and commercial heat treat operations around North America. Knowledgeable and hardworking, he does an excellent job explaining the best utilization and benefits of his company’s products, and his service confirms his clients’ satisfaction with their purchases. Delivering controls systems to plants all over the U.S., Ronnie has provided industrial automation, sophisticated controls, and heat treat expertise to companies like Timken, Caterpillar, SKF, JTEK, and Collins Aerospace. Equally impressive is the list of commercial heat treaters that have benefitted from his expertise. Ronnie has turned 20-year-old heat treat equipment into state-of-the-art, feature-rich equipment that can run the most sophisticated heat treat processes. His greatest accomplishment was installing and implementing a fully automated, lights out furnace line control solution with his SSI team. Ronnie has also been a mentor to new engineers at SSI, and as the industry struggles with experience and expertise, he continues to teach clients the "ins and outs" of how furnace equipment and atmospheres work to provide properly heat treated parts.
