40 Under 40 Class of 2024 Highlights: Ami Hadley & Tim Shoemaker
|
Heat Treat Today is privileged to oversee the 40 Under 40 recognition awards highlighting a group of rising young leaders in the North American heat treat industry every year. The Class of 2024 is a high-achieving, motivated, and heart-felt group of significant contributors to the heat treat market. Here are two highlights from this year’s class.

Ami Hadley is the quality director at Houston Heat Treat where she has served as ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor certification and on committees held by the American Petroleum Institute (API), including API 20E/20F (Bolting), 20H (Heat Treatment), 20P (Plating), 6A (Wellhead and Tree Equipment), SC21 (Materials), and SC18 (API Q1). She greatly enjoys learning and contributing at each meeting she attends. Ami believes her most significant accomplishment in the heat treating industry has been obtaining the company’s American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) approval. The work involved included writing a required ABS Quality Plan and incorporating all the necessary ABS Rules, and the team succeeded in obtaining approval after the first audit. Houston Heat Treat has been through five re-approvals with zero findings. Known for making sure QC stays on schedule, she handles all equipment requirements, shims, surveys, ETC, and all audits. Given her work with API, she is able to give input on when to update Houston Heat Treat’s standards. These accomplishments show she truly loves being in the industry and is always willing to help others succeed. Read more about Ami here.

Tim Shoemaker is vice president of sales of Kolene Corporation, where early in his career he was tasked with designing and engineering various industrial furnaces and full-service chemical processing lines for molten salt and salt bath nitriding applications. He worked directly with the company's third-party fabricators and their field technical service team to lead and supervise the project installation of the equipment at the client or end-user’s site. During these projects, he developed a keen ability to understand the nuances of various clients’ specific applications, while at the same time developing key relationships with clients. His understanding of Kolene’s equipment and his relationships with its clients provided him the perfect segway into the sales team in 2016, and he eventually assumed the role of sales manager in 2019. In 2021, the company acquired Upton Industries, Inc., an industry leader in heat treat furnaces and processing lines, and Tim was instrumental in leading the sales teams at both companies. This acquisition, as well as the acquisition of the Chemical Division of Park Thermal International Corporation, put him on an accelerated learning curve for all heat treat processes as the company launched a full line of heat treat chemistries. Continuing his progression in the industry, he was named vice president of sales and an officer in the fall of 2021. Read more about Tim here.
