The Class of 2021 is a high-achieving, motivated, and heart-felt group of significant contributors to the heat treat market. Here are two highlights from this year’s class.

Derek Denlinger is lead metallurgist at Paulo. Derek’s passion for physical metallurgy immediately began making contributions to physical analyses of parts for reverse engineering, failure analysis, and research projects investigating complex technologies for potential company services. Derek was instrumental in the technical research for the equipment, processes, and operations that led to Paulo’s purchase of a hot isostatic pressure vessel. Read more about Derek here.

John (Jack) Peurifoy is a materials engineer at The Timken Company. Jack is a subject matter expert in multiple fields and has played a pioneering role in the development of austemper heat treatment for ultra large bore (wind energy) bearings. He published a paper in a highly reputed journal, and investigated the root cause of grind injury in aerospace bearings. Jack created an austempering cycle development guide for Timken’s department which will be used for years to come. Read more about Jack here.
